The Township of Washington Police Department are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who was captured
on video attempting to burglarize a Township home on Wednesday evening.

Around 6:30 p.m., a security camera outside a home on Hampshire Rd in the Twp, captured the male suspect walking up to the front door, looking into the home and then leaving, according to police.  In video released by police from the homeowner’s security camera, the suspect is seen peeking in the front door of the home and looking around before deciding to leave the area. (See video below)

Wearing black gloves, the suspect walks on to the front porch and walks away to a part not captured on camera before leaving the residence without making entry.
Anyone who recognizes the individual or has additional details is asked to call Detective Heather Castronova at the Township of Washington Police Department (201) 664-1140.

In the meantime, police are urging residents to be diligent this holiday season by locking their homes, setting alarms, and leaving lights on both inside and outside of their homes as well and reporting any unusual people or activity in the neighborhood.  If you see something, say something!
