The Twp. of Washington Police Department under the direction of Chief John Calamari, Lt. Pecora and P.O. Michael Ferrarini work to obtain equipment from the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) 1033 Program. This program permits the Secretary of Defense of the United States of America to transfer excess DOD supplies and equipment to state, county and local law enforcement agencies across the country for the use in performing their law enforcement duties. This property is procured at little to no cost to the law enforcement agency obtaining the equipment. The expense is generally related to transport or repair of the free equipment. The Twp. of Washington Police Department has acquired a 2008 Hummer which is used for high water rescue and special community events. We also obtained a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck which is used for traffic details and storage of traffic cones and barricades at the ready for emergencies and a unmarked/confidential vehicle which is used for administrative, transportation, training and general duties. Below please find some of the pictures of our acquired vehicles.
