On Monday May 19, 2025 at approximately 1220 HRS, a male party was observed walking around the Westwood Regional High School property. Surveillance Camera footage was obtained which it showed a motorcycle was driving into the east lot of the Westwood Regional High School off Ellen Place. The motorcycle parked near the school busses in the east lot. The male driver dismounted from the motorcycle, pulled the hood from his sweatshirt over his head, and walked towards the Board of Education entrance. The male then walked towards the front entrance of the building. Moments later, he went back to the motorcycle and left the school property. He was last observed driving westbound on Ridgewood Road from the High School.
At approximately 1417 hrs on Tuesday May 20, 2025, Township Police were alerted that the same individual from the previous day was in the east parking lot of the Westwood Regional High School. Township Police responded and met with the party in question, Mr. Mustafa Akcay. After a thorough and complete investigation, Township Police charged 26 year old Mr. Mustafa Akcay with Stalking NJSA 2C:12-10B. At no time was there any danger to the students, staff or the public. Township of Washington Police Department are dedicated to the safety and security of all Students and Staff members in our schools.
Criminal Charges and any discussion thereof, are merely allegations and all defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
