The Township of Washington Police have been in consistent contact with the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife Bureau of Wildlife Management regarding the black bear that has been in town.
At this time the bear’s behavior classify it as a “category III bear” and the protocols for handling a category III black bear do not include trapping or relocating.
Please report bear sightings and the bear behavior to the Police Department so we can continue to monitor their location and habits.
