Premium Vector | Vector Red Triangle Scam alert warning sign

The Township Police Department would like to advise residents of a recent scam targeting our community.
Fraudulent emails are being sent to residents containing invoices requesting payment to the Township for services such as Building Department or Zoning Department escrow fees. These emails appear to come from the e mail address [email protected].  Please be advised that this email address is fictitious and is not used by the Township of Washington.  It appears that the public application notices are being used to search residents’ information.  So going forward, the town will be redacting contact information in the public application notices in hopes to eliminate these issues.  Please be aware that the town does not collect any money via wire transfers.
Residents should not make any payments or provide personal or financial information in response to these emails. If you receive one of these messages, report it to the Township Police Department.  If you are ever in questions, please call the Township Offices at 201-664-4404 before responding to any e-mails.
If you have questions regarding legitimate Township fees or communications, please contact the Township directly using official phone numbers or e-mail from the towns website which can be found by visiting Home Page – The Township of Washington.
