On Saturday, August 6, 2022, the Bethany Community Center held its second annual Summer Bash in Washington Township. The Summer Bash is an outdoor party where local vendors set up an area to cook food, scoop ice cream and pour drinks for their guests. Other vendors set up games and events to promote their businesses. Music could be heard by both live bands and a DJ. The event was created to benefit the Washington Township First Responders: The Washington Township Police Department, The Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department and The Washington Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Not only did this event donate the proceeds to these three departments, it gave local residents and up close chance to meet face to face with the First Responders of the respective departments.
The Washington Township Police Department had a tent set up with tables, where members of the community were able to meet the Police Officers, take some Cop Cards or stickers, glow in the dark bracelets, pop sockets, CERT flashlights and flyers promoting the next Coffee-With-A-Cop event (see end of article for more information). The PBA Local #206 Washington Township Unit popped popcorn all after to hand out to the guests as well. Not only did the Police Officers have a great time being able to provide these items to the community, but they had an even better time walking around the event and participating with the guests in the provided entertainment. Specifically, but playing basketball, providing a motorcycle unit demonstration, dancing and our very own Chief Skinner was a participant as the person who got dunked in the dunk tank.
The Washington Township Police Department wishes to thank the Bethany Community Center for hosting this event and continuing a great tradition of working together for the community. The next event is Coffee-With-A-Cop, which will be held at the Bethany Community Center Lounge, located at 605 Pascack Road in Washington Township, from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The event is a free event and will be held tandem with our trained Car Seat Installation Unit installing car seats. Hope to see you there!
