Road work is about to be underway all across the U.P | WJMN - UPMatters.com

On Tuesday, November 28, 2023 and Wednesday, November 29, 2023, the Bergen County Road Department will be applying a high friction surface treatment to Washington Avenue (weather permitting) between Pascack Road and Meisten Street.  High friction surface treatments (HFST) are pavement treatments that dramatically and immediately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities associated with friction demand issues, such as wet/inclement roadway conditions.

The following is a schedule and description of road closures:

1) Tuesday, November 28, 2023- Hours of work will be from approximately 7:00 A.M.-5:00 P.M. Washington Avenue westbound will be closed from Pascack Road to a location approximately 50 feet west of Meisten St. Ingress and egress of vehicular traffic to Meisten St. will be limited during this time frame. At a certain point during the day, for approximately one (1) hour, no vehicles will be able to leave or enter Meisten St. Due to the nature of the project, an exact time frame for this hour is unknown but should be during the afternoon hours. If you need to leave your residence during this time we recommend you park your vehicle on Burke St. to avoid any complications.

2) Wednesday, November 29, 2023 – Hours of work will be from 7:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. Washington Avenue eastbound will be closed from Jackson Avenue to Pascack Road. Eastbound Washington Avenue traffic will be detoured on to Jackson Avenue and directed to Manhattan Avenue and then to Pascack Rd. Access to Meisten Street will be granted from Pascack Road. Vehicles exiting Meisten Street will be directed west on to Washington Avenue.

The Police Department will have Officers on scene to assist with traffic and limit the inconvenience to our residents. Should you have any questions regarding this project,

please contact Traffic Supervisor Sgt. Glock at [email protected].
