The Washington Township Police Department would like to make residents aware of a growing trend involving the theft of front radar sensors from newer Honda vehicles. These sensors are used for Adaptive Cruise Control and other driver-assistance features.  The Washington Township Police Department has been notified of two separate incidents involving the theft of front radar sensors from parked vehicles within the past 12 hours in which front radar sensors were removed from parked Honda CRV’s.  Replacement and calibration of these components can be costly, often ranging from $1,500 to $4,000.  Vehicles commonly targeted include:

  • Honda CR-V (2023–present)
  • Honda Accord (2018–present)
  • Other Honda models equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and similar safety systems

To help protect your vehicle:

  • Park in well-lit areas whenever possible
  • Utilize security cameras or surveillance systems covering parking areas
  • Consider installing an anti-theft radar sensor bracket after consulting with a qualified mechanic
  • When parking at home, position your vehicle to reduce visibility of the front grille area from passing traffic
  • Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately. Taking proactive steps can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim.

This is an active investigation. If you have information regarding these incidents, please contact the Washington Township Police Department at 201-664-1140.
